NATASHA YVETTE WILLIAMS

The following is used with permission from NaTasha Yvette Williams and www.natashayvettewilliams.net (added March 25, 2007)

NaTasha can currently be seen making her Broadway debut as Sophia in The Color Purple.

NaTasha Yvette Williams began singing at age three in the Tiny-tot choir at her home church Shiloh United Church of Christ in Fayetteville, North Carolina. Even then everyone could see God’s hand upon her. At the tender age of five she decided she would be a singer and a doctor. She wanted to heal people with her voice and her hands.  NaTasha graduated from North Carolina A&T State University. She majored in Math and Theater Arts and after graduating magna cum laude, she continued her studies in acting and completed her Masters of Fine Arts at Michigan State University.

NaTasha won the first annual Kraft Foods New Voices of Gospel Talent Search held in New Orleans. Through this contest she has been featured in Essence Magazine several times. She won the grand prize of $25,000 and a coveted audition with Sony Music.   She is currently working on her 3rd album.  Her gospel music has taken her to Japan, Italy, Canada and the Virgin Islands. NaTasha, who is the daughter of a United Church of Christ minister, has a four octave vocal range. Whether she is singing Gospel music, performing on the stage at the Apollo (4 time Winner), gracing the Broadway Stage, or anywhere in between she will be giving Him honor and Praise.

Prior to the contest NaTasha toured the country in several theatrical plays. One of her favorites was playing the incomparable Mahalia Jackson in The Mahalia Story to audiences around the nation. She has played Grace, the stepsister in the Broadway Series production of Cinderella, starring Eartha Kitt. Cities all across the country saw her share the stage with Cathy Rigby in Suessical the Musical. She has played leading roles and given musical performances in such productions as The Goodbye Girl, Ain't Misbehavin, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Little Shop of Horrors, Godspell, Boesman and Lena. Her television and movie credits include several appearances on One Life to Live, Studio 54, and Trippin.

JENNIFER HOPE WILLS

The following is used with permission from www.jenniferhopewills.com (updated January 28, 2007)

Jennifer Hope Wills was born in Baltimore, MD to proud parents William and Sue Wills. She spent the first two years of her life in and out of rehearsal halls, dressing rooms and even a closet or two due to the fact that her parents were active participants in Baltimore Actors' Theatre (BAT). Jennifer made her stage debut before her first birthday with a 102 degree temperature as the baby prince in Rumplestiltskin...what a trooper! Before her second birthday, her parents dropped the bomb when it was discovered that a baby brother was on the way. Lots of things were about to change. Not only would she no longer be the only child, but her parents decided that they had to leave Baltimore. With two children, there was no way that they could support a family on theatrical wages and if one of them would have to leave the theatre...then both of them would have to leave. They decided to move down to the family resort town of Ocean City, MD where there were absolutely no theatrical outlets. That's what they thought anyway...

Jennifer attended Salisbury State University and began her college career as a History Education Major...something perhaps a little more useful was her thinking. Gradually she began taking more music classes than history classes, began taking voice lessons, had joined the college choir and the college theatre club (Sophanes). By the middle of her Sophomre year she officially became a music major. She appeared in the college theatre productions of Grapes of Wrath (Elizabeth Sandry), West Side Story (Maria...yes complete with dark skin and hair) and The Secret Garden (Lily). She also won first place in several state and regional NATS Vocal Competitions. She graduated suma cum laude with a BA in Music Education.

On the encouragement of her teachers, Jennifer's next step was to attend graduate school at prestigious Indiana University in Bloomington, IN. This was her first real move from home. During her two years at IU she performed in many of the mainstage and chamber productions. She quickly graduated with honors with a MM in Vocal Performance and Pedagogy and a concentration in Theatre. It wasn't long before Jennifer came full circle with her decision to return to the world of theatre and found herself with two suitcases on a bus to NYC. She was cast in productions from her first two auditions in New York and by the end of that year she had obtained equity status and had been cast in leading roles up and down the east coast. The rest of the story can be seen on this web site.

Jennifer is the new principal Christine in The Phantom of the Opera on Broadway as of December 2006. She joined the production mid-April of 2006 and has served as both the alternate for the Broadway production and the principal for the National Tour.
